We do the best we can with what we know...
As I am sitting here editing my daughter's 8th grade photos, I am blown away, not only by the woman she is becoming, but by her kind heart and sense of friendship. I have seen her go through SO much since 6th grade like friendships, heartache, being grounded for the first time... and 42nd time... Aunt Flo, hormones, changing schools, and making hard decisions. It does take a village and I always pray that when I am not around, another mother can step in and be that "voice" she needs to hear when mine isn't one she wants to hear. Teens are hard and they're even harder when you want them to succeed so badly. I only pray that she continue what she knows and continue to show kindness and love and always welcome those around her who may not always feel welcome. That's all anyone wants, right? To be a part of a gang.
So just know that if your babies find a tribe, a good group of kids, scoop them all up and love them all. We need each other as moms to be that voice of reason or that scolding moment when our own kids won't hear anything of it. I appreciate all of those who have helped encourage, guide, and show my daughter how to be kind... even when it's not always easy or "cool."
